James McCarty had recently moved from Talladega, Alabama to Smith County, Texas. He died interstate in 1856 and his probate records state the following: Emily, negro, 25 years old Bonaparte, a boy, 7 (Boney) Susannah, a girl, 5 Izarah, a girl, 2 His estate was sold. The girls were bought by J.H. Chambers and Boney was bought by D.P. Fowler (along with the land).
