From the 1821 Will of John Veach, Sr. (1750-1826), six enslaved persons are named: Dicey ("girl"), willed to wife, Elizabeth Veach Harry ("boy"), willed to son, John Veach, Jr. Gabriel ("man"), willed to daughter Mary Pope Mary ("woman"), willed to daughter Mary Pope Jenny ("girl"), willed to daughter, Sarah Veach Jacob ("boy"), willed to son James Veach The probate records of John Veach, Sr. also include an interesting section detailing the contents of the "Negro house" to include household furniture, various kitchen implements of the time, and even a "looking glass".
