- Here is a summary of the information I've gathered thus far: Andrew Gray (1767-1817, served as a captain in the South Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War): Owned 1 Negro man named Mica (or Mico), valued at $350 and sold to Mary Gray (his wife) for $304. Mica (or Mico) is also mentioned in Mary Gray's estate documents (1827), valued at $75. Mary was the wife of Andrew Gray. James A. Gray (died ca. 1835, son of above-named Andrew Gray: Will gave slave named Eliza to his wife Elizabeth E. Gray and slave named Ben to his infant son James Andrew Gray. Elizabeth Gray (died ca. 1840, wife of above-named James A. Gray): Estate sold 1 Negro man Titus to Christian V. Barns (not sure of spelling) for $1000, 1 girl Lucinda to Henry Penney (not sure of spelling) for $613, 1 boy Edmund to John Gawdy for $566, and 1 woman Jane and her two children to Sarah Downey for $1122.
