Joseph Henderson, Jr.'s (b. 1770 in VA, died 1841 in Wilkes Co., GA) will, recorded in 1842, mentions a number of slaves by name. His wife Helen was bequeathed a Negro woman Minny and her children Dave (or Dane?), Richmond, and Antony. His son Mitchel was bequeathed a Negro boy named Bill (or Bile?). His daughter Nancy Lyon was bequeathed a Negro woman by the name of Nelly and her child (whose name is not legible). His son Jesse M. Henderson was bequeathed a Nego woman named Silvey and her child William. His son Felix G. Henderson was bequeathed George and a boy named Frank. His grandson Joseph H. Malone was bequeathed a Negro girl named Mary. His granddaughter Haseltine Malone would receive Mary if Joseph did not live to the age of 21.
