Thomas Simpson executed a deed of gift prior to his death in 1806 in which he gave several named slaves to his daughter Sarah Lewis (wife of Richard Mullington Lewis). The named EPs are Lidda (Lydia), Bet, Jean, Nance, Jack & Tom. This deed of gift is set forth in the court case Lewis v. Lewis, 46 N.C. 444 (N.C. 1854), decided June 1, 1854. The issue of Lydia included Aesop.
