1840 US census lists him with 50 slaves whose names are unlisted. His will, written 5 Dec 1844, lists the following slaves: I also give to my daughter Ann (Scott) the following named Slaves, to wit: Henry, Minot, Ambrose, David Son of Jane, Major, Thornton, Robin, Simon, Tom, Willie, Washington, David son of Sylvia, Patty, May, Phillis, Sylvia, Delphy, Dina child of Jane, Milly, Winney, Walker, Philip, Agga, Hauick, Polly, Sara, Amanda, Leiors, Horace, Priscilla, Larken, Gug, Jacob, Abraham, Daphne, Violet, Rose, May child of Dapheney’s, and Phyillis child of Farra. I give to my daughter Eliza the following named slaves, to wit: Edmund, Mana, Besty, Abba, Legrand and Rachel. I also give to my son William the following named Slaves, to wit: Harry, Nat, Doc, Moses, Addison, Nelson, Stephen, Reuben, Asa, Sawney, Sam, James, Old Hannah, Rose, Emily, Matilda, Fanny, Dina child of Fanny, Peggy, Grace, Hanna child of Emily, Caroline, Aaron, Malanie, Dido, Ellen, Ralph, Fanny child of Dido, Patrick, Clara, Sinah, Mana child of Matilda, Daniel, little Jane, Peach, Jon, Peter, Jack, Isaac, Jany, Thomas, Dicy, Laura, Samson, and Easther. The will was probated 27 Sept 1847.
