The emancipation papers of two enslaved people, Sarah Dixon, owned by Benjamin Orr Peers and enslaved man named Clarke, owned by Robert Breckinridge, have been donated to the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, KY. Sarah and Clark were married (1842) after they were emancipated from their enslavers and are found in US Census records in 1850 and 1850 living in Clark County, Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY More information about the enslaved man named, Information pertaining to Clarke's duties and value when enlslaved by the Breckinridge family, is found in the Breckinridge Family papers, which were donated to the Library of Congress. The Breckinridge and Peers families were two very wealthy and influential Kentucky families.
