Alexander's 1824 will identifies eight enslaved people by name: Jesse, Phillis, Silvy, Benjamin, Peter, Tabitha, Dinah, and Tibby. Jesse was given to Alexander's son John Jordan. Phillis was given to Alexander's daughter Gracy Jordan. Silvy was given to Alexander's daughter Jane Ball. Benjamin was intended to be given to Alexander's minor son William when he came of age. Peter, Tabitha, Dinah, and Tibby were given to Alexander's surviving wife, with the instructions that they would be "divided" among the children when Mrs. Jordan died.
