Colonel Benjamin Sherrod was born in NC, relocated to Wilkes County, GA and after the death of his wife, Elizabeth Copeland moved to NW AL. Appears he had three plantations in the area and own many slaves. He died about 1847 and in his Will inventory many slaves were listed by first name. My 3 great grandfather stated in a US Commission Claim dated 1871 that he was own by Benjamin.
